South Africa - Zimbabwe/Zambia


Johannesburg - Gold Reef City - Pretoria - Sun City - Panoramic Route - Kruger Park - Victoria Falls

     DAY 1 Arrival in Johannesburg, transfer to the hotel and a short rest. Afterwards sightseeing of the city: drive through the oldest, colonial districts of Johannesburg (Hughton with Nelson Mandela's house and Parktown) and the city centre. city tour of Johannesburg followed by lunch.
In the afternoon, visit to Gold Reef City - replica of old Johannesburg from the time of "gold rush". The complex consists of numerous museums, restaurants and old buildings in Victorian and Edwardian style. We will see the process of gold production from the mining to the final product, watch the miners dances, take a ride on roller coaster or ancient train, visit one of many museums or exhibitions within the compound of the Park. Elegant dinner in the Casino hotel with the accompaniment of the jazz band.

     DAY 2 In the morning transfer to Pretoria -sightseeing of the city centre with its historical Church Square, the old Parliament Building, the Palace of Justice and the Paul Kruger's statue. Afterwards we drive past the City Hall and Melrose House. We will also stop at the Union Buildings- the headquarters of the South African government, situated on top of the hill, surrounded by beautiful gardens and offering panoramic view of Pretoria
Drive through the Hartbeespoort Dam to famous Sun City Resort - the place of entertainment and gambling - African Las Vegas. The resort is nestled on the borders of the Pilanesberg National Park. We will visit the casino complex and Lost City, surrounded by stunning tropical gardens with romantic waterfalls. In the afternoon time at leisure in the Valley of Waves- enjoying a swim in 2m high computer controlled wave, Waterworld or at the roulette tables.
Dinner and overnight in Sun City.

     DAY 3 Early morning departure towards famous Panoramic Route, offering one of the most stunning scenery of the surrounding area. Our first stop will be God's Window, which owns its name to the dramatic views from various viewpoints overlooking the almost sheer 300m drop into an indigenous forest-clad ravine. Afterwards we continue north to see Bourke's Luck Potholes, that have been carved out by water and stone falling down into Blyde River resulting in spectacular cylinders (up to six meters deep) with smooth and colorful rims.
This natural feature marks the beginning of the Blyde River Canyon, which is he third largest canyon in the world, well known for its natural beauty and diversity of its flora and fauna. Nearby is another highlight of the Scenic Drive: Three Rondavels - three hut-shaped rock formations. On our way back we will also stop at the Lisbon Falls, which is the highest in the area.
At the end of our journey we will have a break at Pilgrim's Rest - a little charming town that was founded after the discovery of gold in the stream flowing through the valley. Presently Pilgrim's Rest is like a living museum, preserved in the exact style of the gold rush period with many buildings unchanged for more than a century.
In the evening we arrive at the lodge bordering with the famous Kruger Park. Dinner around the campfire.

     DAY 4 Early in the morning departure for a full day safari in the Kruger National Park - one of the largest and best game reserves in Africa. The area covering almost 2 million hectares, is home to an impressive number of species (almost 150 mammals, more than 500 birds, and 100 reptiles) among them the famous "Big Five": rhino, elephant, leopard, buffalo and lion.
Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

     DAY 5 Early in the morning transfer to the airport and departure for Victoria Falls that is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and greatest natural spectacles. Declared a World Heritage Site, the falls - and much of the town of the same name - constitute a 23,4kmē national park, which neighbours onto the 573kmē Zambezi National Park.
We will view the falls - the stuff of legends, romance and myth. The local people called this magical place, where mighty Zambezi plunges into a mile-wide ravine, Mosi-oa-Tunya - the "Smoke that Thunders". The spray billowing up from a series of magnificent cataracts, some over 100m high, can be seen 70 km away. The thundering energy of the Falls stays in vivid contrast to the tranquility of the surrounding wilderness. Walk on the paths through rain forest, which grows in the arc of the spray, to dozens of view points - each one better then the last, will give incredible oportunity to take magnificent pictures.
Shortly before the dusk we board the houseboat for a cruise to watch one of the most unforgettable sunsets in the world.

      DAY 6 Day for optional activities. Most of the activities depend on a choice of the group members and are not included in the price of the tour. One of the most popular attractions is the white water rafting over the gorges of mighty Zambezi below the falls. The white water rapids offer Grade 5 rapids most of the way. It requires some physical fitness and good team work to survive the pass through the rough waters of the river.
Another hi-adrenaline attraction is a bungi jump from the famous steel bridge joining both sides of Zambezi River on Zimbabwean and Zambian site. One of the highest and most interesting jumps .of its kind in the world.
For the less extreme but equally adventurous we have a micro light flight over the stormy waters of the falls and more comfortable helicopter flights. Both giving the most incredible views of the full 1700 meters of the Victoria Falls. Other activities include: horse and elephant back safaris, jet boating, tandem kayaking, abseil, gorge swing and flying fox.
Evening dinner at the boma restaurant with traditional, lively African dances and songs. Overnight at the hotel.

     DAY 7 Morning visit to the Zambezi Nature Sanctuary with hundreds of crocodiles (from babies you can hold, to 15 ft monsters), cheetahs, lions, leopards, serval cat, carcal and wide range of tropical and endemic African birds. Set in plush landscaped gardens on a natural creek, the Zambezi Nature Sanctuary will increase your awareness of the environment surrounding the Victoria Falls. Fascinating tour will unfold a scaled version of the flora and fauna of this riverine ecosystem. .Lunch on the farm.
Early afternoon transfer to the airport and return to Europe via Johannesburg.
