Antananarivo - Nosy Be - Nosy Iranja - Morozevo
DAY 1 Late in the evening arrival
in
Antananarivo - the capital of Madagascar. Welcome at the
airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight.
DAY 2 After breakfast sightseeing
of
Antananarivo. Tana is built on two ridges, which combine
in a "V" letter. This hilly area is full of contrasts. Red clay houses,
steepled churches isolated on hilltops, overlooking a mosaic of green
and brown paddy fields, winding streets and numerous, vibrant markets
stand against modern office buildings, shops and traffic. From the
right place, in the right light Antananarivo is one of the most attractive
capitals in the developing world. In the evening sunshine it has the
quality of child's picture book, with brightly coloured houses stacked
up the hillsides, mauve jacarandas and purple bougainvillea against
the dark blue of the winter sky.
On a guided city tour of the capital of Madagascar we will see summer
residence of the Queen, Zoo, national art's market and much more.
Transfer to the airport. Flight to
Nosy Be. Transfer to
Vanila
Hotel. Time at leisure. Dinner and overnight.
DAYS 3-4 Stay in
Vanilla Hotel
on Nosy Be - an island off Northwest coast of Madagascar in the
Mozambique Channel. This is very much a holiday island, blessed with
an almost perfect climate (sunshine with brief showers), fertile and
prosperous, with sugar, pepper, and vanila grown for export, and the
heady scent of ylang-ylang blossoms giving its the name of "Perfumed
Isle".
This is the place to come for rest and relaxation. Nosy Be provides
a taste of everything that is special to Madagascar, from wonderful
seafood to tropical beaches, from chameleons to lemurs. The place
offers plenty of sports and a fantastic experience during snorkelling
and diving, mountain biking, sea fishing, excursions to the reserves
and to the neighbouring islands.
On this unique island we spend two days at leisure and also take part
in excursions to lemur reserve and neighbouring islands.
D 5-6 Transfer by motorboat to
the
Nosy Iranja Island that is an exquisite resort in the Indian
Ocean Islands. The setting is idyllic and stunning beaches surround
this lush tropical island covered with coconut palms, Filaos trees
and tropical flowers. The bird life is diverse and remarkable and
the island is also home to huge Coconut crabs.
Nosy Iranja consists of two islands connected by a 1500 m sandbank
that is exposed during low tide. The northern island, Nosy Iranja
Be, is home to a delightful lighthouse and a small village, inhabited
by the local fishermen.
Accommodation for 2 nights in Nosy Iranja Lodge newly built on the
southern island which chalets are dotted around the coastline, each
with their own incredible sea view. The island has many attractions
and amenities, one of the most notable is an important breeding reserve
for hawksbill turtles that mostly lay their eggs in the south of the
island.
There is a full range of watersports available, from sailing to scuba
diving and fantastic snorkelling opportunities. The perfect beaches
provide great walks or the option of simply lazing in the sun! To
be able to enjoy the day to its fullest, Nosy Iranja's time is set
one hour ahead of Madagascar time.
DAY 7 Transfer by the motorboat
to the airport, flight to
Antananarivo, transfer to the Ibis
Hotel. In the evening elegant supper in the Colbert Hotel in one of
the best French restaurants in this region (optionally).
DAY 8 Excursion to one of its
kind mini reserve of Peryerras in
Morozevo where we will see
almost all the chameleon species of Madagascar, butterflies, lizards,
snakes, bats and other interesting animals. 90% of reptiles in Madagascar
are endemic and found nowhere else.
Return to Antananarivo, flight back.
